Kate & AJ’s French’s Point Wedding in Maine
A couple of weeks prior to Kate and AJ’s wedding, I received an email asking if, perhaps, we could change the schedule- AJ had planned to surprise Kate with a sailboat on her wedding day, but realized the current schedule wouldn’t allow for a jaunt out to the boat, so he spilled the beans to Kate. And so, with help from their day of coordinator, the fabulous Nicole of French’s Point, we planned for a first look so that cocktail hour could be spent on the Schooner Actress. To say that I was excited was an understatement- I’m always stoked to get on the water during a wedding.
Kate and AJ prepared for their wedding day with their respective wedding party members, including their ring bearer and flower girls, Keenan, Quinn, and Hudson. Keenan was told she could request any lip color she wanted, and while she realllly wanted blue and was denied, she settled for a bold red (applied by the delightful Ariel Johnson, hair done by Bei Capelli). Hudson, who had fallen in love with the delightful hats he had seen at a wedding in England, wore his very own top hat that had been purchased there. And once Kate and AJ finished dressing, the pair made their way to the French’s Point gazebo, where they had a beautiful, sunsoaked ceremony.
Immediately after, we were whisked away to the beach via golf cart and then boarded a little dinghy in order to access the schooner, which was bobbing ever so invitingly on the waves. The water was a little choppy, and some of us may have gotten splashed as we rode (I sent my gear in for cleaning the next day, hah!) but it was worth it to be on the water on such a stunning summer day. We spent our time taking portraits on the sailboat, and I even climbed a rope ladder for one particular angle, because why not? Luckily, the ride back was a little less wet.
As sunset descended, everyone enjoyed a spectacular meal by one of my favorites, Bar Harbor Catering Company, as well as meaningful toasts from friends and family and formal dances. The dance floor was particularly joyful, especially when a circle formed a little later in the evening and Keenan and Hudson reigned surpreme, their playful dance moves eliciting cheers and fist pumps from other guests. And, I can’t not mention the hats which everyone shared as they grooved the night away- the hamburger, pizza and hot dog hats, which have become a tradition in Kate’s family, seemed to encourage some.. entertaining dance moves (and made everyone look cooler, let’s be honest).
Here’s a few of my favorite photos from Kate and AJ’s wedding day. Enjoy!
