Matt & Maddy’s Bar Harbor Inn Reading Room Wedding

Most couples opt to have an after ceremony, somewhere between 4 and 5pm, and then plan a reception that lasts well into the night. Maddy and Matt, whose wedding took place at the Bar Harbor Inn’s Reading Room, opted for a noon wedding ceremony. The benefit to an earlier ceremony and reception for a Bar Harbor wedding is that you can do less couples portraits during the wedding, and then plan for a portrait session in Acadia National Park after the reception. The light was perfect as we visited a few spots around Acadia, and ultimately maximized the time Maddy and Matt got to spend with their loved ones during their wedding, which was perfect. If you’re currently planning a Bar Harbor/Acadia wedding and really want to prioritize portraits in Acadia at sunset, an earlier ceremony and reception may be your best option!

Matt and Maddy, who hail from Pittsburgh, brought their loved ones to MDI so they could share one of their favorite places with their loved ones. In fact, Matt’s grandfather has a cabin in Belgrade which remains in the family, so his and his family’s connection to Maine runs deep and long. The pair got ready in the morning, opted to forgo a first look and see each other at the altar, and while no tears were shed by Matt and Maddy, I definitely noticed that they welled up a bit during their personal vows! After, there was a sunny cocktail hour, toasts, dances, delicious food, and an energetic dance floor.
