Lincolnville Maine Wedding Photographer | Tanya & Abe
Although I had been talking to Tanya since the winter, I didn’t have the opportunity to meet Tanya and Abe until June. Within minutes of talking to the two of them, I knew that not only did the two of them have the sweetest relationship, but that I wanted to get to know them more, and what better way to do that then to photograph a wedding amongst their closest friends and family? I had the opportunity to get to know them a bit more during our engagement session, which took place the day before their wedding (which will be up next on the blog– naturally, Tanya and Abe were eager to see their wedding photos first), and found these two were naturals in front of the camera whose love for each other was clearly palpable AND adorable. I was, truth be told, now even more excited for their wedding day!
Tanya put together a gorgeous tented garden party wedding at their family cottage in Lincolnville Maine, but what was even cooler about their wedding was the multiple surprises they planned for their friends and family. I could share them now, but, ah… I think I’ll make you read through this post to learn more!
That photo on the right is Tanya’s great grandmother’s wedding portrait!
Tanya was my second bride in a row who chose Jimmy Choo heels for her wedding. Stunning!
The bouquets, which included roses and peonies (my favorite!), were carefully crafted by Seasons Downeast.
Kim Doll, a favorite hair stylist of mine, did Tanya’s hair.
Tanya’s friends started quietly watching through the door and caught Tanya by surprise :).
In Camden, Abe got ready and hopped on the school bus that drove guests from Camden to their remote lakeside camp.
I’m in love with Tanya’s veil– I adore blusher veils. They feel so romantic!
The ceremony took place on a dock that jutted out on the lake, which was picturesque.
One of the surprises Tanya and Abe had for their guests was a dove release. They picked up a box, slowly opened it, and guests gasped when they saw two doves fly out. I later heard family and friends comparing their ceremony to one found in the movies. White Doves of Maine coordinated the release wonderfully.
Then it was on to portraits, which were particularly easy with this pair who had practiced the evening prior with me!
I love, love, LOVE long veils. They’re delightfully dramatic and definitely worth investing in, even if you only use them for photos!
On to the reception!
Abe’s last name is Bellini, so it only make sense that their feature cocktail be a bellini! PS- my favorite comment on the rocks was the one at the top of the photo on the right, which made me smirk.
After Tanya and Abe’s first dance, the DJ announced that the duo had a special surprise for family and friends… and everyone was amazed when they came back out (Tanya wearing a wicked red jumpsuit) and rocked out a choreographed salsa dance. Just look at the moves these two pulled off! They assured me they really aren’t professional dancers (but I’m still a little in disbelief… :) ).
Wonderful speeches were given by Virgil, Abe’s brother and best man, and Christine, Tanya’s mother and maid of honor.
And after the sweet parent dances, the dance floor was electrified by some pretty crazy dancing. DJ Alexander Sirois of Double Platinum Celebrations kept the party rocking, and family and friends of all ages came together to celebrate their love for Tanya and Abe.
