Brunswick Maine Wedding Photographer | Annie & Kenny
The day before Annie and Kenny’s wedding was a rainy, dismal mess, and I knew that things couldn’t be good when I noticed there was a flood warning for Brunswick. Soon after, I heard that the lawn under their tent had flooded, making it a poor location for their reception. The two of them discussed possibly moving their wedding to another location, but at the last minute decided to stay put and somehow make do with what they had. I like to say there’s always a good solution to just about everything on a wedding day, and that proved true, although a little bit of luck and skill made the results sweeter. The rain stopped, the tables were places across the lawn, creating a whimsical al fresco dining experience, and the wonderful team of vendors, friends, and family stepped up to make sure everything would go off without a hitch. Special kudos goes to Megan Lord of Pencil Events, who oversaw and made many of the changes that made their wedding day feel like it was meant to happen the way it happened.
Shall we continue on with some images? I have more to add as we go along!
I Do Spas attended to Annie’s hair and Amanda Michlon of Trademark Salon & Spa airbrushed Annie to perfection (although she was already gorgeous to begin with!)
Annie and Kenny planned the wedding in the span of about six months, despite their busy schedules with med school (Kenny) and cofounding/running a start up (Annie).
Meanwhile, Tammie, my second photographer, captured the guys getting ready as they struggled with their ties. Guys, remember to set aside extra time to tie your ties, EVEN if you’ve practiced!
Annie and Kenny elected to do a first look, which was the perfect moment for them to take a moment before they made their vows and said their I dos to really focus on each other.
Look at these reactions! How can you not do a first look?
By the way, sight unseen beside me was Josh Swan of Media Northeast. He’s one of my very favorite videographers because he’s so considerate and easy to work with. I’m rather picky when it comes to videographers, and he gets my full vote of confidence!
After some wedding party photos with a wonderful wedding party, it was off to the First Parish Church in Brunswick.
What an exit, right?
We headed to Bowdoin College for a few quick portraits before heading to their reception.
I can’t get enough of these bouquets, crafted ever so lovingly by Sarah of Watershed Floral. Her work is always impeccable.
Why walk into your reception when you can surprise your guests and arrive by BOAT? We feared the boat entrance would need to be called off due to the tide and the chance for rain, but everything worked out perfectly and Annie and Kenny got their epic entrance.
As mentioned before, Megan of Pencil Events attended to the coordination of the event, and she was needed when plans were suddenly changed last minute. During the small break between the ceremony and cocktail hour, she worked at breakneck pace to assure that everything was in just the right place and was the superstar of the day.
Guests were asked to wear whimsical cocktail attire, so I was amused to see fascinators, LL Bean boots, bright bowties, and pinstripes worn with flair by Annie and Kenny’s fashionable guests.
We took a quick 5 minutes to take just a few more portraits in the backyard.
Guests played lawn games as they drank delicious beverages, such a giant scrabble, and completed fun guestbook pages.
Annie and Kenny’s friends and family went wild for their first dance.
Afterwards, guests feasted on surf and turf by Coastal Critters.
Thanks, Annie and Kenny, for including me in your wedding day! It was such a wonderful day and I’m glad I was a part of it.
