Katie & PJ’s Acadia National Park Beach Elopement
Katie followed me on my Instagram account the same day that she inquired with me about her Acadia elopement. I immediately scrolled through her Instagram only to find something magical- a candle featuring a shirtless picture of none other than Survivor’s Jeff Probst. Being a rather enormous fan of Survivor, I stared, mouth open. I immediately showed Tony and my best friend Sarah because I was just that excited that someone with such good taste as Katie had contacted me! And, it turned out that PJ was also a fan of the show- even better!
As we worked through their elopement plans, Survivor jokes came naturally. Katie mentioned she was ready to “dig deep” with their plans. I asked if the locations I recommended were “worth playing for.” It was excellent.
Katie and PJ were hoping for moody and spooky locations in July, and while I recommended the spookiest places I knew in Acadia, I feared that they’d have a bright and sunny day. After all, they were eloping in July! But, lucky for them, July has been a moody and rainy month this years, and we were blessed with the best of both worlds- no rain, yet grey, cloudy skies that opened up to the most brilliant blue hues at the very end of our time together.
The rest of the afternoon passed like a blur- we walked to a secret cove (where Katie and PJ had discovered during a previous visit to Acadia), where the two of them were wed by Adam Babbitt of MDI Weddings (save for a few random people who wandered in, we were the only people there!). After an ice cream stop, we headed on to another location that’s a favorite of mine- a delightful woodsy trail with stops including rocky beaches, cliffs, and tide pools. There’s so much variety within one location!
I was sad to leave them at the end of the night, but they sent me home with a Saint Jeff candle of my own, which I plan to light and then extinguish whenever anyone is voted out next season. Best gift ever!
Here are a few of my favorite photos from our time together. Enjoy!
