Here’s to 2012 | Maine Photographers

2012 is about to come to an end.

I am at a loss for words when it comes to talking about 2012, because I can very confidently say that 2012 has been the best year of my life.  It has beaten out 2009, when I earned my master’s degree in English.  It blows 2011 out of the water, even though running a marathon was one of the most fulfilling moments of my life.  And, dare I say that , even though I adore my husband, I wholeheartedly believe that 2012 has been better than 2010, the year I married Tony and started a new life as husband and wife.

2012 was the year that I finally followed my professional dreams and quit my part-time job. 2012 felt like a gamble in some respects– I would either sink or swim.  It could be either completely awesome or awful.  And although my fate was partially out of my hands, I knew that I was going to do everything in my power to make it work.

And it did.  It worked!  I kind of love my life.  I love my clients, I love running a business, and, even better– I hit all of my major goals for 2012.  All of them!  Forgive me, but I’m going to be a bit coy and wait to share some of these until early 2013, when they come to fruition.  But I’m so gleeful that all of the work and long hours that I’ve put into Kate Crabtree Photography has paid off.  I’m even more gleeful that I know for sure that this is what I’m supposed to do for the rest of my life.  I HAVE THE BEST JOB IN THE WORLD!

I may not always be this positive or cheery (believe me, I have days where it feels like nothing is going right), but as I look back over 2012 and I can’t help but think that this year has been nothing less than stupendous.  Here’s to my amazing clients, who I am so thankful that they chose me to document their weddings and let me into their lives.  Here’s to those of you who follow my work and provide good cheer and lovely comments.  Here’s to the other wedding photographers who have become good friends and have often helped me grow and improve my business.  And, perhaps most of all, here’s to my family, friends, and my husband who believe in me, even on the days where I feel lame.

To end, here’s a photo of my husband during a recent snowstorm.  Pppst– notice that watermark?  That’s another sneak peek of my branding!  Oh, Braizen, you guys rock my world.

One last thing!  Have you seen my post about my favorite wedding photos from 2012?  Because it’s a perfect companion piece to this blog post– go check it out!

Happy New Year, everyone!  Here’s to 2013– may it be even more splendid than 2012!
