Jocelyn & Alex’s Sweet Pea’s Cafe Elopement

Many couples are drawn toward eloping with their immediate families, but still want all the aspects of a wedding day- a reception, toasts, dancing, beautiful tablescapes… and for those of you wondering if you can have it all.. you can! Jocelyn and Alex, who eloped in Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park in May, did just that, and their Sweet Pea’s Cafe elopement was just as meaningful and fun as a traditional wedding, despite only having ten or so loved ones join them.

Jocelyn and Alex got ready in Bar Harbor, at West Street Hotel, and while they got ready separately, they stayed in touch via walkie-talkies, a fun touch. Once ready, they and their loved ones departed to Acadia, where they got married on the cliffs, overlooking the ocean. It was a beautiful, warm, sunny day, and since they chose a mid-May date, Acadia was relatively quiet (it’s one of my favorite times of the year for elopements)! After their emotional ceremony, which included a ring warming and heart-warming toasts, the pair said goodbye to their families, and they continued on to take portraits throughout Acadia.

As we headed to the car, Alex realized that he didn’t have the keys to his car- one of their family members had accidentally taken off without them! After a small moment of shock, they called their Day of Coordinator, and Melissa sprung to action. While we continued on with portraits, Melissa met us in the park with the keys, and all was solved. While they were initially stressed, it was an easy situation to solve.

After portraits, we headed to Sweet Pea’s Cafe in Bar Harbor, a farm-to-table venue that features al fresco dining (and also has an awning in case of inclement weather). There, their adorable and very well trained pup, Maggie, greeted them and wandered about as Jocelyn and Alex spent time with their loved ones, shared first dances, enjoyed delicious food on a beautiful evening, and soaked up toasts from their sisters.

The next morning, we met up in Acadia for more couples portraits. While we didn’t get a sunrise, we were gifted with atmospheric fog, which was so much fun to work with.

Here are a few of my favorite photos from Jocelyn and Alex’s Sweet Pea’s Cafe elopement. Enjoy!
