I had been itching to photograph a Sweet Pea’s Cafe wedding ever since the venue began to host events, so I was thrilled when Gail and Julian picked me to photograph their rehearsal and wedding! Sweet Pea’s is known for having a farm to table culinary experience, and I loved walking around the property, seeing ripe veggies growing right in front of my eyes, and knowing that much of my meal (which was delicious, by the way) had come from their garden. And while the food was delicious, what made Gail and Julian’s wedding weekend special was the two of them, their friends, and their families.

I started my photo coverage with them at their lobster bake rehearsal at Gail’s parents’ property in Mount Desert. I got to meet Gail and Julian’s pup, Penny, who was celebrating her birthday, so she was gifted a birthday cookie, which she happily gnawed for the rest of the evening, while guests feasted on lobster and enjoyed golden hour.

The next day passed in a blur. After getting ready, Gail and Julian shared a first look, and after completing all of their family portraits, headed to Sweet Pea’s. I was stunned by the design work by Rachel of RL Sisson Events and Clo Floral, transforming the tent into a wildflower haven. Everything passed in a golden hour blur (and included a slideshow, discussing Gail’s life as seen through children’s books- such fun!), but I particularly enjoyed their dance floor, headed up by the fantastic Sounds Buono.

I also can’t not mention that Gail and Julian hired one of my favorite videographers in the state, Josh of Media Northeast. I love how friendly and collaborative he is, and it always feels like I’m working with a close friend. He’s a must hire if you’re looking for a videographer!
