Bangor Maine Family Photographer | The Atkinson Family

A short time ago a bride contacted me and asked if I was available for a 2012 wedding.  I really wanted to take on the wedding, as the referral who sent them to me is pretty awesome, but I was already booked.  However, I steered her toward another photographer who I thought would be a perfect match.

I was excited when another family member contacted me, asking me if I would take photos of their family during the New Year’s weekend.  Unfortunately, the morning of the shoot featured light freezing rain, but the rain was just light enough that we could shoot without too much hassle.  It started to pour right near the end, so we needed to get a bit crafty with our group photo, but it was nothing a retractable awning and flash couldn’t fix!

The Atkinsons are such a warm, inviting family, and I had so much fun with them.  I think the moment that best summed up their personality as a family was when I was photographing the littlest member of the family, Vivian.  Many of them decided to trudge out during her photos in order to make sure she was looking at the camera.  All of them, with much cheer and glee, sang the donut song behind me.  I’m pretty sure the family that sings together stays together.

Here are a few of my favorite photos from our drizzly day:

This is an outtake, of course, but it captures the fact that we were battling freezing rain and cold temps.  C’mon siblings, hurry up!
