Rachael & Ricky’s Fall Elopement in Acadia

On a very warm day (close to 70 in late October!), Rachael and Ricky, joined by their loved ones, eloped in fall in Acadia National Park. I met up with them at Bar Harbor Inn, where they were preparing for the day ahead. Rachael and Ricky shared a first look on the property of Bar Harbor Inn, and then we all hopped in cars, which took us straight into Acadia National Park.

During the drive in, Jack told me about the stuffed animal he had brought with him to the elopement- Perry, a Peregrine falcon. Having been a very avid reader of Animorphs when I was in middle school (IYKYK), I immediately knew a few facts about Perry, including that Peregrine falcons nest in a few places in Acadia! We might not have spotted any Peregrine falcons, but Perry was ever present during the wedding day, even making an appearance in a few portraits.

We started with Rachael and Ricky’s ceremony, which they chose to host alongside the ocean on the cliffs. One of my favorite moments was when the two of them exchanged rings, Jack, for one reason or another, chose to dash in between them, and then did so a few more times. Everyone started to laugh, and it felt as if Jack was blessing the ceremony in his own way.

After a few cliffside portraits, everyone donned comfortable hiking shoes and hiked up a mountain in Acadia. Rachael and Ricky had chosen a spot for a toast that wasn’t quite at the summit, and when we arrived, we were treated to the most magical golden hour light. Everyone basked in the light and then headed to the top of the summit, where sunset was awaiting us. The foliage was absolutely breathtaking. While it’s always impossible to time when peak foliage will occur in Acadia National Park in the fall, we timed it perfectly, and it was so satisfying to have been gifted beautiful foliage and beautiful light on Rachael and Ricky’s wedding day.

We ended the evening at Bar Harbor Inn’s Porcupine Room, which was beautifully decorated with lush florals and candlelight. Rachael and Ricky started the evening with Animal Bingo, a game enjoyed by Jack. Rachael rewarded bingos with hugs, and everyone continued playing until Jack got his own bingo.

Thank you so much for allowing me to capture your wedding, Rachael and Ricky, I really enjoyed my time with the two of you and your loved ones! Enjoy these photos.
