Best Maine Wedding Photos of 2018

2018 was such an adventure. From sailing during a Camden Maine elopement, hiking a mountain during an Acadia elopement, and watching fireworks over a perfectly placid lake at the end of a lakeside Maine elopement, it’s been a year full of surprises, excellent moments, and beautiful, beautiful landscapes. There were the predicted tears, and laughter, and warm, strong hugs, but my favorite moments from weddings were often the least expected. Kelly and Erik canoeing into their own spotlight at sunset was pretty spectacular, as was when a cloud/fog tendril snaked down to Kate and Brandon as we took portraits on top of a mountain in Acadia- it was as if nature wanted to say, “dear couples- let me celebrate you right at this very moment.” I’ll never forget when Wes fell after hours of epic dancing (which made for a photo that just feels so much like the Wes I got to know), or when Silvana’s pup watched her prepare for her wedding day during her Bar Harbor elopement, or, perhaps one of the coolest of all, when Annie spontaneously threw her bouquet to a group of very excited young girls at her Bristol Maine elopement. Oh, and I’ll never forget when I photographed a West Quoddy Head Lighthouse elopement at sunrise, complete with sea fog and temperatures below 0 degrees Fahrenheit- it was frigid, but oh, it was gorgeous! There are so many I’m not sharing here- you’ll see many of them pictured below. Nevertheless, I was so inspired all season, and I felt so lucky to get to know my couples, their friends, and their families, without whom this blog post would be empty.Wedding photography is one of the most difficult industries I’ve ever been a part of. While sometimes people assume it’s relatively easy, it’s such a (delightful) challenge to produce consistently excellent photos and capture moments while also attempting to creating a great composition. But it’s the challenge that keeps me head over heels in love with capturing weddings. I’m a natural perfectionist, which means I’m constantly seeking out education, attending workshops, and working hard to make photos that communicate who my couples are and how they love. Because, ultimately, that’s what matters- you deserve to have photos that really help you remember who you are as a person and as a couple, and how you felt on your wedding day.Here are a few of my favorite Maine wedding and elopement photos from 2018. I was inspired by all of the different locations and venues I visited- French’s Point, Newagen Seaside Inn, Wells Reserve at Laudholm Farm, Bradley Inn, The Contented Sole, Bar Harbor Club, Inn at Sunrise Point, and private residence weddings and elopements in Blue Hill, Acadia, and coastal Maine, along with those mentioned above. I traveled the state, saw a variety of beautiful backdrops, and reminded myself of how breathtaking Maine is.And, special thanks are in order to Ashley, my second photographer, who helped make many of these photos happen and created many awesome wedding photos herself this season.
